Over the past decade a new way of doing chemistry has emerged: chemical synthesis in continuous flow instead of batch manufacturing. Working closely with start-up companies in this field such as ChemtriX BV, LioniX has developed the necessary technology to design and manufacture micro reactors.

Value Proposition

The expertise of LioniX in microfluidics enables the design and realization of complex state of the art fluidic components for micro-reactor technology. In these devices syntheses can be performed in a pressurized system, over a wide temperature range enabling facile access to extreme reactions conditions. Adding our expertise in integrated optics to our micro-reactor technology enables the continuous monitoring of chemical reactions.

Solutions

Labtrix® and PlantriX®

Based on the fluidic technology of LioniX several different micro reactor devices were developed and realized for the product portfolio of ChemtriX. We were the first to show scalability of the flow chemistry concept going from milligrams of chemical component manufacturing in small 1 * 1 cm chips (Labtrix®) to kilograms in a large 15 cm by 15 cm chip (PlantriX®) without the need to adapt the process parameters. Labtrix® is a laboratory system on which flow chemistry method development is performed prior to using Plantrix® for tonne scale production.
