Co-Development and Access to Customized Fabrication 

A recent example of the current interest in opto-fluidic devices for research applications is found in the opto-fluidic multi project wafer (MPW) run. This MPW has been established by LioniX in collaboration with CMC Microsystems, Canada.
LioniX is the technology enabler providing the knowledge and manufacturing of fused silica based opto-fluidic micro-chips. Together with CMC Microsystems, applications specifications for the opto-fluidic chip are defined. Interested customers or researchers buy access to a pre-determined area on the wafer to manufacture their opto-fluidic prototype design. This MPW initiative enables a low cost, small volume manufacturing of prototype opto-fluidic micro devices.
